Located in the hills of Prato, in a setting rich in woods and vegetation with views of the Florentine plain and the Calvana Mountains, Villa LG is a home designed for a young couple. DEFERRARI+MODESTI oversaw the interior design project, working with the varying levels of the existing building to create a sequence of fluid, interconnected spaces that simultaneously maintain their individual identities and offer varying degrees of privacy.
The living area brings together the living room, reading and music corner, dining room, and kitchen through a seamless system of custom-made furniture. Blue-lacquered ash wood, teak, mustard-colored surfaces, and metal accents define a domestic landscape in which bookshelves, storage units, seating, and room dividers become part of the architecture, connecting the home’s various levels and functions.
The centerpiece of the project is the staircase, conceived as a piece of interior micro-architecture: a connecting element, but also a place to pause, a container, a filter, and a structure to be experienced. Initially clad in teak, it gradually becomes lighter in appearance through the use of a painted iron frame and perforated sheet metal, guiding the passage to the upper floor and transforming the difference in elevation into one of the defining features of Villa LG.
