EXPO 2015 | Competition

The theme of the “Tree of Life” in this project is not merely an abstract reference image; rather, it served as the starting point for developing a concept for the transformation of a portion of land, now vacant, into an environment hospitable to new life and suited to new uses by different populations and across different time periods—a process of “gentle colonization” aimed at creating an energy-sustainable system that is innovative in terms of the technologies employed, an environment rich in symbolic and evocative meanings and articulated through the identified spatial solutions; in a word, a living organism as well as a living landscape.
