Casa AD

Casa AD is a renovation and interior design project for an apartment in the Le Cure neighbourhood of Florence, conceived for a young couple and designed to create an informal, open and welcoming living space. The clients commissioned DEFERRARI+MODESTI to transform their home into a place able to accommodate friends, objects, books and personal interests, creating a flexible and distinctive environment for everyday life.

The project addresses the apartment’s original layout, organised around a dimly lit central hallway and characterised by a clear separation between the living and sleeping areas. The renovation rethinks this configuration, opening up new spatial possibilities and taking advantage of the apartment’s dual aspect to create spaces that are more fluid, brighter and interconnected.

Custom-designed volumes and furniture replace some of the existing partitions. These elements provide storage while also acting as spatial devices, defining new relationships between rooms, accommodating different functions and expanding the perception of space.

The interior design explores a balance between neutral colours, different materials and custom-designed furnishings. The walls are painted in subtle tones that vary between the living and sleeping areas, while bespoke elements introduce colour and texture to define the different spaces. The result is a bright, informal and welcoming home in which layout, furniture, materials and colour contribute to the creation of a new domestic identity.
