Just a stone's throw from the lively little square of Sant’Ambrogio in Florence, the restaurant Poké by Miya has opened—a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy some good food.
The restaurant consists of a main entrance area and two dining rooms, where guests can sit once they’ve placed their orders. The spaces offer a direct view of the street and feature traditional materials, such as wooden ceilings and exposed brick walls. From the outside, passersby’s gaze is drawn to the wall mosaics—true interior stage sets—which function as backdrops within the space and serve as a backdrop to the restaurant’s activities.
The two mosaic walls create a play of warm tones in various shades, echoed in the terracotta red of the counter and the wood finishes of the furnishings. The counter was custom-designed and built to meet the needs of food preparation. Ceramic wainscoting covers the walls and serves as the backrest for one of the two wooden benches, which were also custom-designed and can be used to store items and utensils.
